Paediatric Anaesthesia Training Curricula and Simulation Integration: A Scoping Review of Global Evidence and Pedagogical Innovations

This scoping review aims to map the global evidence on paediatric anaesthesia training curricula and pedagogical innovations. It characterises the scope and modalities of simulation integration, identifies factors contributing to training variability across resource settings, and synthesises emerging pedagogical approaches (boot camps, just-in-time simulation, mastery learning, digital tools, CBME/EPA frameworks). The review follows the Arksey and O'Malley framework, refined by Levac et al., and is reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Systematic searches are performed in PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library, supplemented by grey literature. Evidence is synthesised narratively across six pre-specified thematic domains: (i) curriculum structure and content; (ii) global variability and contextual factors; (iii) simulation modalities and implementation scale; (iv) assessment strategies and competency frameworks; (v) innovative pedagogical approaches; and (vi) communication and non-technical skills training.
