Background: Up to one-third of people with cutaneous melanoma could experience anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric disorders. The presence of psychological distress is associated with higher healthcare costs among cancer patients. However, little is known about the impact of psychiatric comorbidities on melanoma patients' prognoses, and economic data on patients with psychiatric comorbidities is scarce. This study aims to quantify the impact of psychiatric comorbidity on all-cause mortality and estimate its contribution to healthcare costs among patients with non-metastatic melanoma in the Veneto Region of Italy.
