Using Motive-Alignment to Enhance Environmental Education for Youth: A Participatory Field Experiment
Le résumé fourni par la source
The sustainability motive-alignment hypothesis posits that youth will be more internally driven to engage in sustainable behavior if they construe such behavior as aligned with their developmentally-salient motives, including those for autonomy, peer status, and, relatedly, their desire to contribute to society. We test whether a real-world environmental education intervention promotes more pro-environmental engagement among youth in tertiary vocational schools when it includes a motive-alignment component, compared to a traditional intervention.
