An Interdisciplinary Review of Perceptions of Interconnectedness

This review will examine how interconnectedness is conceptualized, how human perception of it is measured, and what empirical associations with human perception of interconnectedness have been found. A typology of interconnectedness will be created to break down the concept's complexity and map related work. The study aims to connect disparate disciplines and methodological approaches, identify gaps in the literature, and assess how perception of interconnectedness is studied including tools and instruments to adopt in future research. This work is motivated by the importance of human perception of interconnectedness in enacting transformative change and addressing global crises like biodiversity loss.
