Investigating Age as a Mediator in the Link Between Organisational Citizenship Behaviour and Organisational Commitment
Résumé fourni par la source
Organizational dedication and citizenship behaviour are among the most important factors in enhancing organizational efficiency. Organizational dedication refers to a situation when an individual is attached emotionally to their establishment, and citizenship behaviour is when an individual displays discretionary behaviour. The study's objective is to explore the relationships between various forms of organizational dedication-affirmative, normative, and continuous-and OCB, with age acting as a mediating variable. A sample of 250 personnel was considered working in the different organizations. A structured questionnaire was used to measure the response of the respondents on scale of 5-point Likert scale. Affirmative, normative, and continuous commitment were assessed using validated scales, alongside items evaluating workplace behaviours like helping colleagues and supporting organizational goals. A simple random technique was used. SEM was then employed to analyze both direct and indirect relationships, examining how age influences the impact of different types of dedication on OCB. It was found that affirmative commitment, mediated through age, strongly influences OCB. However, the effect of continuous commitment, mediated through age, on OCB is negligible, and lastly, a weak and non-significant influence of normative commitment on OCB through age.
