Taxonomy of Mimosa (Leguminosae) clade Petiolovariabilis

This dataset is part of a taxonomic treatment of the Petiolovariabilis clade of the genus Mimosa that includes a taxonomic revision of M. sect. Batocaulon ser. Filipedes and Paucifoliatae. The Petiolovariabilis clade comprises 30 species, including typical varieties of species subdivided at the variety rank, together with six additional non-typical varieties, totaling 36 lowest taxonomic units, mainly found in Brazil. These species are mostly herbs, subshrubs or shrubs found in seasonally dry forests and savannas. Supplemental Data I is a database of 3,664 examined specimens, including their source herbarium and fully revised coordinates. Supplemental Data II is a character matrix comprising all examined and informative traits. The final column contains a concatenated character string that generates a complete taxonomic description in text format. Supplemental Data III is a list of petiole vouchers used in the figures of this study. These datasets support the taxonomic treatment of the Petiolovariabilis clade of Mimosa presented in the associated manuscript.
