This document establishes the critical and historical positioning of the PRMS system (Performance Regulated Metabolic System) within the evolution of 20th and 21st century architectural thought. Through a structured genealogical analysis, it examines key movements — Japanese Metabolism, Archigram, Soleri’s Arcology, Passive House, and environmental certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM and EDGE — identifying a shared structural limitation: the absence of an operational, autonomous, measurable and scalable architectural unit. The PRMS introduces a fundamentally different principle: the metabolic node as a distributed, data-driven, and performance-verifiable unit capable of operating across all scales. Unlike previous systems that remained formal, speculative, centralized, or fragmented in evaluation, PRMS integrates real-time measurement, energy production, environmental regulation, and financial performance into a unified operational framework. This document does not present the full technical standard but establishes the disciplinary argument for PRMS as a new architectural paradigm based on measurable autonomy and systemic replicability.
