Résumé fourni par la source

This dataset accompanies the following article: “Gachoki S., Riva C., … Requier F (2026) Climate change reduces pollination services and sunflower yields across Europe and Northern Africa. Basic and Applied Ecology”. Using a 2-year standardized pollinator exclusion experiments across Europe and Northern Africa, we assess the effects of long-term temperature on sunflower productivity (seed set, seed number, and oil content). Results shows that sunflower productivity relies heavily on insect pollinators. However, the contribution of pollinators to sunflower yield decline with rising temperatures. Spatial projections show that the Mediterranean region may be unsuitable for pollinator dependent sunflower cultivation under the high-emission climatic scenario. Four datasets are available: (1) dbase_Pollinator_Abundance: This data contains total count of the number of flower visitors per site during different observation periods. Metadata: 132 obs. of 8 variables: Year (factor variable), Country (factor variable), Site_ID (factor variable), Plot_ID (factor variable), Date (factor variable), Temperature (numeric variable), Transect (factor variable), and abundance (numeric variable). (2) dbase_Pollinator_richness: This data contains the count of different species that visited the flowers per site during different observation periods. Metadata: 142 obs. of 8 variables: Year (factor variable), Country (factor variable), Site_ID (factor variable), Plot_ID (factor variable), Date (factor variable), Temperature (numeric variable), Transect (factor variable), and abundance (numeric variable). (3) dbase_oil_content: This data contains the measured oil content per site a. Metadata: 36 obs. of 5 variables: Country (factor variable), Site (factor variable), Treatment (factor variable), oil (numeric variable) and Temperature (numeric variable). (4) dbase_yield: This data contains the number of developed and empty seeds observed per flower head across multiple treatments. a. Metadata: 697 obs. of 8 variables: Year (factor variable), Region_ID (factor variable), Site_ID (factor variable), Plot_ID (factor variable), Treatment (factor variable), temperature (numeric variable), Dvl_seed (numeric variable), Empty_seed (numeric variable).
