Endogenous Arrivals to a Single-Server Queue with Stochastic Service Times

This note examines strategic arrival timing in a discrete-time single-server queue with stochastic service times. Building on the laboratory queueing framework of Rapoport et al. (2004), service time is modeled as a simple twopoint random variable with fixed mean and varying dispersion. Numerical analysis shows that greater variability systematically increases expected waiting times and reduces expected payoffs under the symmetric mixed-strategy equilibrium. The model provides a simple and experimentally implementable framework for testing theoretical predictions in future laboratory studies.
