Le résumé fourni par la source

Through a multidisciplinary research during five field seasons, PASH has collected archaeological and environmental information that allow a preliminary assessment of the cultural process in the Shkodër region. The survey of 16 square kilometers of the region between Gajtan and Shkrel, and the excavations of sites such as Kodër Boks, Zagorë, Gajtan, Tumulus 88 in Shtoj and Tumulus 99 in Shkrel, are the most important sources of information for this paper. There is abundant evidence for last Glacial and Mesolithic occupation of the area however the lack of Neolithic settlement is confirmed by both survey and excavations. Absolute dates provided here show that the major shift in settlement pattern of the eastern Lake Shkodër area coincides with the very late Neolithic and particularly the Copper Age. Environmental factors seem to be mainly responsible for the absence of Neolithic occupation, or its archaeological detection. The dynamic social landscape of the Bronze Age is deeply rooted in the Copper Age transformations and dominated by hill top sites and large tumuli concentrations throughout the western lowlands of the region. Cultural interactions (participation in the Cetina phenomenon), competition, and movements of people, seem all to have played a role in the shaping of the Bronze Age features of the Shkodër region. Re-evaluating the role of the Copper Age on this part of Albania, as elsewhere, becomes particularly important for understanding the nature of the Bronze Age developments.
