While the performance of narrative in sign language translation has been the subject of several studies, the performance of hortatory discourse has received less attention. In this article, the translation of Paul’s Letter to the Philippians into Dominican Sign Language is used as an example of how sign languages can bring Paul’s persuasive language to life through performance and visual means.
