Le résumé fourni par la source
For the prevention and treatment of epilepsy, neuroprotective and antiepileptogenic treatments have been thoroughly studied. The hopeful impact of the ketogenic diet, a supplemental treatment, on the intestinal microbiota to lessen seizure susceptibility is summarised in this review. The need of exercise as a supplemental treatment to lessen seizure susceptibility and hence improve the epileptic condition is then thoroughly discussed. The prospective hazards and advantages of physical activity, putative exercise-related precipitant factors, suggested mechanisms by which exercise can lessen seizures, and its antiepileptogenic effects are all given special attention in this context. Lastly, this review highlights new evidence that exercise improves the quality of life for individuals with epilepsy and reduces comorbidities associated with the condition. Physical or sporting activities are a viable non-pharmacological intervention that can be used with traditional epilepsy therapy, according to evidence from recent literature.
