Ultralow frequency-enhanced source for OBN survey design and implementation
Le résumé fourni par la source
This paper presents an ocean-bottom nodes (OBN) acquisition planning, testing, and implementation strategy, which uses a hybrid source design in the Gulf of America (GoA). This strategy includes a triple conventional gun array source, and an independent single ultralow-frequency source. The survey assumes a two-vessel operation, with each vessel towing four sources in total. Shooting times for both source types are randomized using generalised survey optimisation with constraints technology (GSOC), (Kumar et al., 2023, Kumar et al., 2024), to optimize spatial and temporal source distribution. This hybrid approach aims to enhance the low-frequency content, which is complimentary to the conventional source, while maintaining operational efficiency.
