Exploring the Future Role of Machine Translation in the Language Classroom : Accepting Restricted Use of MT
Le résumé fourni par la source
This study analyzed the appropriateness of a new rule allowing restricted use of machine translation for sentence-level tasks.A survey was conducted to determine whether the rule affected the way students used MT and to judge whether the rule change was a good idea. The survey results were presented, and an analysis of the educational benefits of allowing MT for sentence-level tasks was carried out.The results of the survey were inconclusive in measuring whether students' use of MT changed after the new rule was implemented. However, the students mostly reacted positively to the rule change, and some benefits to allowing restricted use of MT were identified, such as promoting the use of MT as a learning tool.
