Does aging influence the effect of biofeedback on the risk-taking behavior?
Le résumé fourni par la source
Older adults typically report increased levels of risk aversion relative to younger adults in self-report measures (Mamerow et al., 2016). In contrast, previous studies do not observe strong risk aversion in older adults when researchers use behavioral paradigms of risk-taking behavior (Mamerow et al., 2016; Rolison et al., 2012). Such inconsistencies may be due to the age-related decline in interoceptive abilities interoceptive accuracy: Khalsa et al., 2009, interoceptive sensibility: Murphy et al., 2018) that are known to play a crucial role in risk-taking behavior (Izaki et al., 2024). Combining biofeedback with the Balloon Analogue Risk Task (Lejuez et al., 2002), the present study aims to address this possibility.
