Survivorship
Le résumé fourni par la source
Abstract The impacts of cancer continue beyond the end of treatment, especially in low-resource countries where survival rates are lower. Survivors face both physical and psychosocial challenges, which necessitate ongoing rehabilitation and supportive care. Quality post-treatment care includes monitoring for recurrence, managing side effects, psychological support, and promoting overall health and well-being. These are essential for helping survivors reintegrate into their lives and reduce the healthcare burden. Optimal care ideally takes a holistic, interdisciplinary approach that integrates patient advocacy into research, policy, and practice improvements, emphasizing comprehensive care, psychosocial support, and global collaboration to enhance survivor outcomes and quality of life. Clinical guidelines support the post-treatment surveillance and management of breast cancer survivors, although further effort is needed to improve adherence, particularly in low-/middle-income countries.
