Wideband In-Phase Power Divider With Configurable Division Ratios for K- and Ka-Band LEO Satellite Systems

A wideband in-phase power divider with various power division ratios, intended for emerging low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications (SATCOM) systems in the K- and Ka-band, is presented. The proposed design utilizes the broadside-coupled three-line coplanar waveguides on a single-substrate layer, enabling a compact footprint and reducing the fabrication complexity at high frequencies. By varying the width and relative placement of the two output transmission lines, different power division ratios are achieved with minimal amplitude and phase variation across a wide frequency range. To validate the concept, prototypes operating from 20 to 30 GHz with power division ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 are developed and tested. The measured results demonstrate return loss (RL) and isolation greater than 12 dB across the band, with a maximum additional insertion loss (IL) of 0.8 dB. The power division ratios remain within ±0.13 dB of the specified values, and all prototypes exhibit in-phase outputs with a phase deviation less than ±2° between ports. The proposed power divider combines wideband performance, stable division ratios, and structural simplicity, making it a suitable candidate for LEO SATCOM systems.
