Paediatric dermatology training experience and career intentions: a survey of UK dermatology trainees

The NHS is currently facing a shortage of paediatric dermatologists, which is negatively impacting the care of children and young people with skin disease. We conducted a survey of UK dermatology trainees to explore the level and duration of paediatric dermatology training received during their programmes and their career intentions with regard to practising paediatric dermatology as consultants. Our results show variations in paediatric dermatology training throughout the UK and a low proportion of trainees who plan to hold paediatric dermatology clinics as consultants.
