Social Network Analysis (SNA) As A Novel Approach to Enhancing Clinical Education: A Review (Preprint)
Le résumé fourni par la source
UNSTRUCTURED Social Network Analysis (SNA) is a theoretical–analytical framework for examining structures and relationships among individuals and groups. By mapping and quantifying connections, it reveals patterns of information flow and identifies key positions within networks. The application of SNA in medical education enables researchers and educators to understand how knowledge is distributed, to identify educational influencers, and to explore the links between formal and informal learning structures in clinical settings. Implementing SNA in clinical education can enhance situated learning, strengthen advice seeking networks, identify influential educators, and guide targeted interventions to reduce burnout and improve quality of care. Studies show that network metrics and sociograms are useful for monitoring interactions among medical students and residents and for designing tailored educational interventions. Network based interventions have been associated with increased connectivity, improved faculty–resident relationships, and reduced burnout indicators.
