Streamlined Approach to Developing TSBM Case Studies and Plain Language Announcements

INTRODUCTION: This paper outlines a structured methodology for creating Translational Science Benefits Model (TSBM) case studies and accompanying plain language announcements to enhance accessibility and engagement of CTSI service directors, health system/university leadership, and patients. METHODS: The process begins with identifying key themes and evidence-based practices in scholarly research done within the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Pilot Program, followed by collaborative drafting with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance, while also using the case study builder tool from the TSBM site to organize the writing process. Each case study is reviewed for clarity and impact, while plain language announcements are crafted by our dissemination leader to distill complex information into concise, reader-friendly summaries. RESULTS: The Dissemination, Implementation, and Continuous Quality Improvement (DICQI) team at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine CTSI published two case studies on the TSBM website to show how our work contributes to translational research and future clinical practice. Two CTSI announcements were also posted to promote these efforts and the researchers involved. Sharing these case studies helps engage CTSA hub leaders, the institution, and the public by highlighting the impact of the CTSI Pilot Program and showcasing best practices and scientific advances. DISCUSSION: This structured approach improves clarity and accessibility of translational research, fostering engagement from the CTSA hub, institution, and public, and amplifying the impact of CTSI initiatives. It demonstrates how systematic dissemination can accelerate adoption of evidence-based practices.
