The energy transition through heat exchangers plays an important role in various industries and can be used in various applications such as heat exchangers, power plants, HVAC, automobiles, aerospace, and other industrial applications like agricultural or food processing industries. The efficiency of the heat exchanger is compromised by fouling, corrosion, and thermal resistance. Nanocoatings (NC), recognised for their exceptional physical, chemical, and thermal characteristics, have surfaced as a potential solution to improve the performance of heat exchangers. This chapter aims to review the advancements in the field of nanomaterial coating in heat exchangers with the basic theory, types, improved properties, benefits, challenges, and selection of nanomaterials for particular applications.
