The role of the interprofessional team in the context of preventing risky behaviour in children placed in a children‘s home.

This Bachelor thesis focuses on the importance of expert collaboration within the interprofessional team in preventing risky behaviour in children placed in a care home. The aim of the work is to find out how individual team members perceive their role in this process and what challenges and needs they encounter in practice. An effectively functioning interprofessional team is a key element in ensuring quality and comprehensive care for a child in institutional care. A qualitative research strategy has been chosen for the practical part of this Bachelor thesis. Questioning was used as a method of data collection in the form of a semi-structured interview. Using this technique, answers were obtained to a total of 16 questions which contributed to a deeper understanding of the issue under scrutiny and to the achievement of both research objectives and questions. The research was carried out in february and march of 2025 in three children's homes. The research set included five staff from children's homes. The collected testimonies were analyzed through the open-coding method and subsequently in the Atlas.ti program thematically categorized according to common features and illustrated using diagrams. The research investigation revealed that members of the interprofessional team in children's homes face a number of challenges in preventing risky behaviour. Although they hold different professions, they often mention similar obstacles and challenges, in particular the relationship instability of children, weak cooperation with the family and staff shortages, which negatively affect the quality of care as well as preventive procedures. Teamwork is key in these situations, with each expert contributing their perspective and experience, increasing the chances of early risk recognition and appropriate targeting of interventions. The findings can serve as a basis for improving cross-disciplinary cooperation in children's homes and more effective prevention of risky behaviour.
