From Food to Finances: Early Phase Qualitative Evaluation of a Novel Resource-Coaching Program
Le résumé fourni par la source
Abstract: In this paper, we document the early-phase process and outcome evaluation of From Food to Finances (FFF) within the context of a high-capacity food pantry; FFF is a novel resource-coaching program stemming from guiding principles of financial coaching that may be beneficial for long-term health outcomes. Structured, qualitative interviews were conducted with 21 participants in different stages of the program, and data were analyzed for common themes. Interview participants identified perceived health and other benefits from both food and financial resource coaching sessions and noted several changes in behavior. This evaluation of the pilot program shows promising results for behavior change in a population that is often considered too unstable and focused on crisis management to engage in meaningful behavior changes necessary for improving health and financial stability. While the pilot program was developed in the context of a high-capacity food pantry, it could be adapted to a variety of settings in which people with low incomes face resource challenges.
