Together Again, In Person

Until the Covid-19 experience, very few would have felt the need to specify that the meeting would take place in person. The pandemic marked a watershed in this regard as well, but it also stemmed from a series of misunderstandings, such as to consider online meetings a substitute for in-person encounters. The thesis of my writing is that the presence of bodies, of whole people in their affective and cognitive dimensions, is not comparable to video calls. This is not about denying the usefulness of video calls, but about recognizing their specificity and therefore their limited and non-surrogate applicability..
