This repository is part of Suplementary Information for the article: Extreme precipitation events at Pine Island Glacier linked to temperature variability in Southern South America. It contains 80 short videos illustrating the seasonal lagged analysis of climatological conditions during extreme precipitation events that reach five defined ice core groups in the eastern region of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, which are: Summer (DJF): Group 1: TT01: (-84.00000, 280.50000), BR-IC-5: (-82.50856, 280.53258), TT02: (-83.45375, 274.83292), TT03: (-82.85000, 271.01000), TT04: (-82.17178, 267.16864), Group 2: BR-IC-6: (-81.05281, 280.16414), PASO-1: (-79.63352, 274.99375), ST22: (-79.74170, 281.45500), Group 3: TT07: (-79.92000, 265.61000), TT05: (-81.37192, 265.30733), TT06: (-80.41525, 265.31578), Group 4: TT08: (-79.12314, 263.62483), PIG: (-78.50444, 262.50667), ITASE01-5: (-77.05930, 270.86240), ITASE01-4: (-77.61160, 267.75170), ITASE01-3: (-78.12020, 264.35370), Group 5: Ferrigno: (-74.57000, 273.10000), Rendezvous: (-74.45000, 281.84000), Palmer: (-73.86000, 294.54000), "Gomez": (-73.59000, 289.64000), "Jurassic": (-74.33000, 286.94000), Autumn (MAM): Group 1: TT01: (-84.00000, 280.50000), BR-IC-5: (-82.50856, 280.53258), TT02: (-83.45375, 274.83292), Group 2: BR-IC-6: (-81.05281, 280.16414), PASO-1: (-79.63352, 274.99375), ST22: (-79.74170, 281.45500), Group 3: TT05: (-81.37192, 265.30733), TT06: (-80.41525, 265.31578), TT03: (-82.85000, 271.01000), TT04: (-82.17178, 267.16864), Group 4: TT07: (-79.92000, 265.61000), TT08: (-79.12314, 263.62483), PIG: (-78.50444, 262.50667), ITASE01-5: (-77.05930, 270.86240), ITASE01-4: (-77.61160, 267.75170), ITASE01-3: (-78.12020, 264.35370), Group 5: Ferrigno: (-74.57000, 273.10000), Rendezvous: (-74.45000, 281.84000), Palmer": (-73.86000, 294.54000), Gomez: (-73.59000, 289.64000), Jurassic: (-74.33000, 286.94000), Winter (JJA): Group 1: TT01: (-84.00000, 280.50000), BR-IC-5: (-82.50856, 280.53258), TT02: (-83.45375, 274.83292), Group 2: BR-IC-6: (-81.05281, 280.16414), PASO-1: (-79.63352, 274.99375), ST22: (-79.74170, 281.45500), Group 3: TT05: (-81.37192, 265.30733), TT03: (-82.85000, 271.01000), TT04: (-82.17178, 267.16864), Group 4: TT07: (-79.92000, 265.61000), TT08: (-79.12314, 263.62483), PIG: (-78.50444, 262.50667), ITASE01-5: (-77.05930, 270.86240), ITASE01-4: (-77.61160, 267.75170), ITASE01-3: (-78.12020, 264.35370), TT06: (-80.41525, 265.31578), Group 5: Ferrigno: (-74.57000, 273.10000), Rendezvous: (-74.45000, 281.84000), Palmer: (-73.86000, 294.54000), Gomez: (-73.59000, 289.64000), Jurassic: (-74.33000, 286.94000), Spring (SON): Group 1: TT01: (-84.00000, 280.50000), BR-IC-5: (-82.50856, 280.53258), TT02: (-83.45375, 274.83292), TT03: (-82.85000, 271.01000), TT04: (-82.17178, 267.16864), Group 2: BR-IC-6: (-81.05281, 280.16414), PASO-1: (-79.63352, 274.99375), ST22: (-79.74170, 281.45500), Group 3: TT05: (-81.37192, 265.30733), TT06: (-80.41525, 265.31578), Group 4: TT07: (-79.92000, 265.61000), TT08: (-79.12314, 263.62483), PIG: (-78.50444, 262.50667), ITASE01-5: (-77.05930, 270.86240), ITASE01-4: (-77.61160, 267.75170), ITASE01-3: (-78.12020, 264.35370), Group 5: Ferrigno: (-74.57000, 273.10000), Rendezvous: (-74.45000, 281.84000), Palmer: (-73.86000, 294.54000), Gomez: (-73.59000, 289.64000), Jurassic: (-74.33000, 286.94000), The members of these groups share the same climatology of extreme events and were generated by hierarchical cluster analysis. Four types of mean composite maps of climate variables were computed for each group and season: geopotential heigh at 500 hPa (z500) and temperature at 850 hPa (t850); geopotential heigh at 500 hPa (z500); total precipitation (tp) and mean winds at 850hPa; vapor transport (VT) mean winds at 850hPa.
