Final Design and First Performance Tests on Short-Length Prototypes of the Green Superconducting Line for the Italian Facility IRIS

IRIS (Innovative Research Infrastructure on applied Superconductivity) is a major project funded by the Italian Minister of University and Research within the Next Generation EU framework. Coordinated by INFN, the project aims to build a state-of-the-art research infrastructure dedicated to applied superconductivity. One of the project's key deliverables is the design and delivery of a Green Superconducting Line (GSL) for power transmission, together with the construction and commissioning of a dedicated test station for Superconducting Lines testing. This article will present the final design of the GSL, summarize completed activities (procurements and preliminary tests), and provide an update on ongoing activities (GSL assembly and delivery to the Salerno facility). In addition, it will report status from prototype testing: a 2 m long single petal and a 20 m long full cable -tested at 5 kA, cooled by helium gas at 20 K and 10 bar, and a 20 m long full cable to be tested in the same environment, simulating conditions at the Salerno facility.
