This article presents a literature review with the aim of exploring the effectiveness of prenatal care and active search strategies in improving outcomes in early childhood, within the context of primary health care. Early childhood, characterized by the period from pregnancy to the first years of a child's life, is recognized as a stage in human development, influencing health, well-being and cognitive and social capacities throughout life. Given the importance of this phase, the study aims to identify and analyze interventions that have proved effective in promoting healthy development during this critical period. The methodology employed consisted of a search of the main scientific databases, selecting studies that address the impact of prenatal monitoring and active search strategies implemented in primary health care, with a focus on the results obtained in early childhood. The results of this review show that well-structured prenatal care and active search strategies are essential for the early detection of maternal and child health risks, as well as promoting healthy practices among pregnant women and families. It was observed that these strategies contribute to reducing the incidence of neonatal and infant morbidities and mortalities, as well as the cognitive and socio-emotional development of children. Likewise, the studies analyzed indicate that implementing these actions in primary care strengthens the link between families and health systems, ensuring more effective and personalized follow-up.
