Le résumé fourni par la source

This present study deals with the limestone used in Kosa Basha Fort, Abu Qir, Alexandria. The deteriorated limestone specimens were subjected to several examinations, analyses, and tests, including Polarized Light Microscope (PLM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and physical and mechanical properties tests. The examination showed loss in internal structural of the stone was observed, attributed to the impact of salts, Furthermore, increased porosity and water absorption were also observed, along with a decline in mechanical properties. This study aims to improve the properties of limestone to resist salt weathering, to achieve this, a number of nanomaterials and nanocomposites (CaLoSiL E (5%), Nano silica (5%), CaLoSiL E (5%) combined with Nano silica (5%) and Paraloid B-72 (3%) combined with CaLoSiL E (5%)). The consolidation materials were selected according to two criteria: the first was that these materials were compatible with the properties of limestone, and the second was that they were resistant to salt weathering, which is one of the most important factors of damage that greatly affects the limestone used in the Kosa Pasha Fort. The consolidated limestone specimens were subjected to (40) cycles of salt crystallization test, to evaluate the stability of the proposed consolidation treatments to deterioration factors. The weathered specimens were evaluated after the 10th, 20th, 30th, and 40th artificial ageing cycles. The study concluded that the treated limestone samples using Paraloid B-72 enhanced with CaLoSiL E (5%) and CaLoSiL E (5%) combined with Nano silica (5%) were achieved more stability to salt weathering.
