Le résumé fourni par la source
Red-light violations (RLVs) at signalised intersections continue to pose major safety challenges, especially where traffic flow characteristics vary across urban and suburban environments. This study examines how different traffic signal systems, traffic conditions, area types, and yellow-light durations influence RLV patterns at 13 intersections in Johor, Malaysia. Using video-based data collection and multiple statistical methods—including chi-square tests, binomial proportion analysis, and quasi-binomial logistic regression—the study identifies key factors influencing driver behaviour during the yellow–red transition. Results show that vehicle-actuated systems yield the lowest RLV rates, while suburban areas and peak-hour traffic exhibit higher violation tendencies. Longer yellow intervals significantly reduce the probability of RLVs. The findings contribute to improved understanding of driver decision-making and highlight the importance of adaptive signal control and context-sensitive timing strategies.
