ABSTRACT The Family Health Strategy (ESF) is fundamental to the organization of Primary Health Care (APS) in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), articulating actions of promotion, prevention, and continuous care in the territories. This study aimed to evaluate how management and quality of care indicators have been used in the ESF and their contribution to the organization of the work process and decision-making. This is an integrative literature review, with a search on Google Scholar, which resulted in the inclusion of eight studies published between 2013 and 2025. The results show that the use of indicators occurs unevenly, varying according to management support, team training, and spaces for collective discussion. When used critically and contextually, the indicators help in identifying invisible needs, prioritizing actions, and strengthening longitudinal care. Furthermore, an increase in the use of indicators related to the subjective dimensions of care, such as bonding, coordination, and user satisfaction, was observed. It is concluded that the indicators have the potential to improve management and care in the Family Health Strategy, provided that they are used in a participatory and educational manner, aligned with territorial realities and the principles of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Keywords: Family health strategy. Primary health care. Care management. Quality of care.
