INTEGRATING SIDDHA EMBRYOLOGY AND PATHOGENESIS WITH MODERN GENOMICS FOR ADVANCING P4 HUMAN HEALTH – A NARRATIVE REVIEW
Le résumé fourni par la source
Siddha medicine, one of the very oldest traditional medical traditions, provides a comprehensive understanding of human health with its unique concepts of embryology, pathogenesis, and individualized medicine. With the advent of modern genomics, there is a growing possibility of scientifically examining Siddha principles and bridging traditional wisdom with molecular sciences. This study explores the interaction between Siddha embryology and genetics, integrates the Siddha concept of causation of diseases with the mechanisms of genomics, and discusses how the Siddha paradigm fits into the P4 medicine paradigm—covering predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory approaches towards healthcare. A detailed literature review was conducted through the critical evaluation of classical Siddha literature along with contemporary scientific databases like PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, with the use of keywords that are relevant to genomics, genetics, predisposition to diseases, and P4 medicine. The results revealed that the Siddha concept on the development of diseases, founded on the imbalances in the three humors (vatham, pitham, and kabham), is congruent with genetic predisposition and epigenetic changes acted on by environmental and lifestyle factors. In addition, Siddha literature describes hereditary transmission mechanisms that are congruent with the current concept of maternal and paternal gene transmission. In addition, Siddha's focus on prevention, individualization, and participatory approaches is compatible with the principles of P4 medicine. Lastly, the integration of Siddha embryologic and pathological intelligence with genomics can provide a strong foundation towards personalized and predictive healthcare, consequently demanding further interdisciplinary explorations.
