Cement materials are susceptible to microcracking during service, impairing their durability. Microcapsule-based self-healing concrete addresses this by autonomously releasing repair agents upon cracking, enhancing structural durability and safety while reducing life-cycle maintenance costs. This study examines the effects of microcapsule dosage, pre-compaction stress, and curing age on self-healing performance through uniaxial compression and mercury intrusion tests. Stress–strain tests and porosity measurements reveal the mechanisms of damage and healing, while repair and repair rate establish quantitative links between microscopic structure and macroscopic properties. A multi-factor prediction model is developed to describe healing dynamics. Results show that microcapsules substantially im-prove self-healing, with a peak strength repair rate reaching 186 %. Microstructural analysis indicates that pore volume and median pore diameter critically influence strength, a relationship well captured by the developed pore-structure-strength model. The study innovatively reveals the synergistic macro-micro evolution mechanism during micro-cap-sule repair and establishes a multifactor performance prediction model, providing important theoretical and practical guidance for designing, optimizing, and applying self-healing cement materials.
