Mobility decision-making process
Le résumé fourni par la source
This chapter explores the multi-dimensional crisis that transformed Venezuela from an immigrant-receiving to an emigration country, focusing on the factors that shaped migration decisions. Drawing on in-depth interviews with experts, migrants, and those who stayed behind, it addresses the following questions: What were the conditions in Venezuela that triggered migration? What ultimately drove so many of them to leave? How did the decision-making process unfold, and why was Peru chosen as a destination? Additionally, the chapter examines migration trajectories, asking: What did the migration journeys look like, and what influenced the choice of routes? By investigating these key questions, this chapter offers a deeper understanding of the drivers of migration, the resilience of those who remained, and the complexities behind choosing migration destinations and routes during Venezuela’s ongoing crisis .
