Smart construction sites represent a pivotal advancement in the digitalization and intelligent transformation of the construction industry. By integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, smart construction sites enable intelligent management throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects, encompassing planning, design, construction, and operation. IoT technology, utilizing sensors and data collection devices, enables real-time monitoring of construction sites, offering robust support for improving safety and efficiency. BIM technology, leveraging digital 3D modeling, provides highly accurate information and a collaborative platform for architectural design and construction, significantly enhancing the transparency and visualization of project workflows. This paper systematically explores the innovative applications and synergistic effects of BIM and IoT technologies in smart construction sites. The findings indicate that BIM excels in information sharing and progress monitoring, while IoT demonstrates distinct advantages in equipment management, environmental monitoring, and resource optimization. The integration of these technologies endows smart construction sites with capabilities for real-time data updates and dynamic monitoring, providing scientific support for construction management decision-making. This integration effectively enhances resource allocation efficiency, strengthens safety control measures, and improves overall project management performance.
