DC-Link Harmonic Suppression for Five-Phase Inverters Under Unbalanced Conditions Based on Carrier Phase Shift

This paper investigates the high-frequency harmonic characteristics and suppression methods for five-phase inverters operating under unbalanced conditions. Under balanced operating conditions, high-frequency harmonics and their sideband harmonics caused by switching devices can be effectively suppressed through mutual cancellation between phases. However, when the system operates in an unbalanced state, the sideband harmonics that could previously cancel each other out can no longer be effectively eliminated, introducing more high-frequency components and resulting in more significant high-frequency torque pulsations and electromagnetic noise. To mitigate this issue, this paper proposes a high-frequency ripple suppression method based on carrier phase shift. By establishing an analytical model for high-frequency ripples under unbalanced conditions, the high-frequency harmonic characteristics under unbalanced conditions is systematically studied. On this basis, a method of calculating the optimal carrier phase shift angle of each phase through a genetic algorithm is proposed to suppress high-frequency ripple. The simulation verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
