Analysis of the Development Status, Impact and Future Trends of Digital RMB

The digital RMB (e-CNY), a legal digital currency led by the People's Bank of China, has made significant progress in payment settlement, financial inclusion, and cross-border trade since its pilot program 2019. This article systematically reviews the current status of the digital RMB, analyzes its impact on the financial system, economic structure, and international monetary landscape, and explores future technological innovation, policy coordination, and globalization paths. The study finds that through technological empowerment and scenario innovation, the digital RMB holds strategic value in improving payment efficiency, strengthening financial regulation, and promoting RMB internationalization. However, it faces challenges in technical security, privacy protection, and competition with international standards. Enhance the legal framework, deepen international cooperation, and optimize the ecosystem to further unleash the economic and social benefits of digital RMB. This article also discusses typical cases such as the collapse of the Bitcoin Mt. Gox platform and the M-Pesa service in Kenya. Furthermore, pilot programs in Shenzhen and Suzhou, China, as well as cross-border settlement practices on the China-Laos Railway, are studied in detail.
