Abstract Temulawak is a traditional Indonesian herbal plant that contains curcumin as its main active compound. Post-harvest handling of temulawak can be carried out through drying, which aims to reduce its moisture content and extend its shelf life. However, the drying of herbal plants must be conducted carefully to prevent degradation of heat-sensitive active compounds. This study aims to evaluate the drying performance of temulawak using a flat-bed dryer (FBD) integrated with a pyrolysis reactor. The drying performance was assessed at various tray positions (20 cm, 40 cm, and 60 cm) from the hot air inlet, with a constant drying temperature of 70 °C, an air velocity of 10 m/s, and a sample thickness of 0.5 cm. The optimal drying condition was achieved at the 20 cm tray position, with a drying time of 420 minutes, a final moisture content of 21.98% (dry basis), and a maximum drying rate of 56.00 g/m 2 ·min.
