Testimonial Injustice and the Nature of Epistemic Injustice

This chapter surveys work on testimonial injustice ( TI ) and related epistemic wrongs. I discuss how the concept evolved from work preceding Fricker's coining of the term, and how subsequent work expands the boundaries of her definition, opening questions about how we should circumscribe its ontology. I also discuss the literature on how we should understand the inherent harm of TI and how we might ameliorate it. I close by situating TI within some of the larger umbrella categories that frame the literature, placing it in the context of broader conversations shaping contemporary social and political epistemology.
