Le résumé fourni par la source
This study develops a semi-empirical model using Sentinel-1's C-band (5.36 GHz) to simulate the dual-polarized backscattering coefficient for VV and VH polarizations. The model is tailored for agricultural sites, with data collected across three wheat sites on ten dates. The vegetation component is modelled using a modified Water Cloud Model (mWCM) scaled by the Vegetation-Specific Degree of Depolarization (DoDveg), enhancing its relevance for crop monitoring. The soil component, using the Dubois Model, specifically developed for VH polarization, is aligned with the parameters for VV polarization, modified by the soil-specific Degree of Polarization (DoPsoil) alongside a one- and two-way attenuation term. The Dual-polarized Radar Vegetation Index (DpRVI) is employed as a vegetation index to ensure accurate monitoring of agricultural conditions. The model accurately retrieves soil moisture, particularly for VV polarization, with R2=0.704, NSE = 0.696, and RMSE = 0.042 m3/m3. The accuracy is slightly lower for VH polarization, with R2=0.648, NSE = 0.581, and RMSE = 0.050 m3/m3. The developed model has various applications in sectors such as precision agriculture and drought monitoring.
