This chapter introduces the field of implementation science and positions it within an integrated knowledge translation approach. It provides a practical overview of implementation science’s purpose, phases, and methods, including pre-implementation planning, theory-informed implementation strategies, and evaluation. The chapter challenges linear models of implementation by illustrating how implementation processes are dynamic, iterative, and shaped by context.
