Assessment of HRQoL improvement in ILD patients after LTx using the GR-Scale

Background One of the main aims of lung transplantation (LTx) in patients with ILDs is to improve HRQoL. Objective We aimed to assess the improvement in HRQoL in patients with ILD after LTx utilizing the GR-Scale. Methods Prospective, cross-sectional, cohort study of 32 patients with fibrotic ILDs under first consideration for LTx (group 1) and 26 patients after LTx due to ILD (group 2) who completed the GR-Scale, with 27 and 26 patients completing it a second time. Included ILD diagnoses were cHP, IPF and NSIP and uILD. The groups were approximately matched for age and gender. Total scores and each item of the GR-Scale were compared (t-test) at baseline and follow-up. Results Significant differences in the total scores were found at baseline and follow up as well as in the 5 individual items (see table 1). Conclusion Our study indicates significant better total scores and individual items of the GR-Scale in transplanted ILD patients compared to patients with fibrotic ILD at first consideration for LTx.
