Point of care ultrasound in pediatric trauma
Le résumé fourni par la source
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a critical diagnostic and procedural tool in pediatric trauma care, offering rapid, non-invasive imaging for real-time decision-making. Its applications range from the FAST exam for assessing hemoperitoneum to lung ultrasound for identifying pleural pathology and cardiac imaging for hemodynamic assessment. Despite its widespread utility, POCUS remains user-dependent, requiring standardized training, practice, and documentation to optimize outcomes. Advances in portable ultrasound technology have facilitated integration into austere environments and trauma centers, emphasizing its role in resuscitation and procedural guidance. As research evolves, the potential for broader applications such as REBOA and musculoskeletal assessment underscores the importance of skilled POCUS practitioners in pediatric trauma.
