Robust Bidding Strategy for Solar-Wind-Battery Virtual Power Plants in Ancillary Service Markets
Résumé fourni par la source
The increasing penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources (RESs) in the power grids has led to greater frequency deviation and reduced system strength. Therefore, ancillary services are introduced to stabilize the grid and dampen RES-induced fluctuations. To comply with the directives of the Australian energy market operator (AEMO), this paper proposes a novel strategy that enables virtual power plants (VPPs) comprising solar, wind, and battery storage systems to engage in both energy and Australian ancillary services, encompassing two regulations and six contingency services. Additionally, to address uncertainties, a robust and time-efficient technique is used that is compatible with the dynamic nature of ancillary service provisions. The proposed model is evaluated through case studies using a range of battery storage systems introduced by the commonwealth scientific and industrial research organization (CSIRO), along with real-world cases from Victoria, Australia. Results demonstrate that VPP participation in both energy and ancillary service markets yields a 19.31% higher profit compared to the energy market alone.
