EXPLORING THE EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF PERCUTANEOUS KYPHOPLASTY IN THE TREATMENT OF DELAYED POST-TRAUMATIC SPINAL COLLAPSE WITHOUT SPINAL CORD COMPRESSION SYMPTOMS

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in the treatment of delayed post-traumatic spinal collapse without spinal cord compression symptoms. Methods According to the random number table method, 120 patients with delayed post-traumatic spinal collapse without spinal cord compression symptoms admitted to our hospital from December 2022 to October 2024 were divided into groups, with 60 cases in each group. The PKP group was treated with PKP, and the conservative treatment group was treated with conservative treatment. The pain visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry dysfunction index (ODI), anterior vertebral body height and Cobb angle changes before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the complications were also compared between the two groups. Results The VAS scores and ODI index in the PKP group were lower than those in the conservative treatment group at 1, 3, and 6 months after treatment. The anterior vertebral height of the injured vertebrae in the PKP group was higher than that in the conservative treatment group at 1, 3, and 6 months after treatment, and the Cobb angle was smaller than that in the conservative treatment group. The incidence of complications in the PKP group was lower than that in the conservative treatment group. Conclusion PKP for the treatment of delayed post-traumatic spinal collapse without symptoms of spinal cord compression can effectively alleviate patient pain, improve spinal function and deformity, and have a low incidence of complications.
