In response to the proliferation of Internet of Things devices and data-intensive applications, low-latency and energy-efficient computing solutions have become increasingly important. Cloud infrastructure is relieved of this burden by fog computing, which processes data at the network edge, thereby reducing the load on the cloud. Fog environments, however, are often plagued by issues such as inefficient load balancing, high energy consumption, and security vulnerabilities. SDN-enabled fog computing infrastructures can benefit from a load-balancing framework that is both energy-efficient and secure. Tasks are intelligently distributed across fog nodes using energy-aware task scheduling, lightweight security mechanisms, and centralised intelligence from SDN controllers. Simulated experiments demonstrate that the proposed model reduces energy consumption, task execution time, and response latency while maintaining system security and load distribution. Based on these results, we can conclude that the model enhances resource utilization, sustainability, and performance in dynamic fog computing environments.
