Using cognitive radio capabilities, Cognitive Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (Cognitive MANETs) enable dynamic spectrum access, allowing secondary users to take advantage of underused licensed channels opportunistically. The unpredictable availability of channels and frequent topology changes present a challenge to routing in such environments. To improve communication performance in Cognitive MANETs, an efficient routing approach is presented that integrates dynamic channel selection with dominant set-based clustering (DCA-DS). Based on a greedy dominating set algorithm, the network is organised into stable clusters, and communication channels are selected dynamically in response to spectrum availability and network conditions. With the proposed method, the network is organised into stable clusters using a greedy dominating set algorithm. Communication channels are selected dynamically according to the spectrum availability and network conditions.
