Abstract OBJECTIVE To investigate the effectiveness of a multi-dimensional humanistic care model in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neural tumors, providing practical evidence for improving treatment compliance and quality of life among pediatric patients. METHODS Pediatric tumor patients receiving treatment at the Oncology Department of Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital from 2021 to 2024 were selected. The multi-dimensional humanistic care model incorporated a playground-style children’s space, game-based treatment strategies, palliative and hospice care, social welfare support, and continuous care. Data was collected through questionnaires, follow-ups, and interviews to evaluate intervention effectiveness. RESULTS The implementation of play therapy during PICC catheterization significantly improved patient cooperation and reduced the use of sedation and anesthesia. Twenty-seven humanistic care activities were conducted, serving 563 person-times; 34 birthday parties were organized, benefiting over 100 children; more than 100 art classes were held with over 1,000 participants, resulting in improved patient satisfaction. A survey of 132 patients after treatment showed that 78 cases (59%) returned to school, while 54 cases (41%) dropped out. The quality of life scores for children who returned to school were higher than those who dropped out. CONCLUSION The multi-dimensional humanistic care model effectively improves the treatment experience and prognosis of children with neural tumors. Through systematic, personalized, continuous, and socialized service approaches, this model significantly enhances treatment compliance and quality of life among pediatric patients, making it worthy of promotion and application in similar medical institutions.
