Abstract We are delighted to publish the abstracts presented at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Annual Conference 2025 in this International Journal of Pharmacy Practice supplement. The conference, entitled ‘Transformation in Pharmacy’, was delivered as a hybrid event at Convene, 133 Houndsditch, London, on 7 November 2025. The annual Royal Pharmaceutical Society conference, held in November each year, is the showcase event where our members and stakeholders come together, both in person and virtually, to network and celebrate progress, innovation and professionalism in pharmacy (pharmacists and pharmacy technicians) and pharmaceutical science. This year’s conference theme ‘Transformation in Pharmacy’ has given us an opportunity to highlight cutting-edge innovations that are redefining pharmacy practice and shaping the future of healthcare delivery. A key feature of every RPS conference, and one of the true highlights, is the presentation of research abstracts that advance both science and practice. We are delighted to publish the accepted research abstracts in this International Journal of Pharmacy Practice (IJPP) supplement. Abstracts from the Innovations in Practice stream are showcased at the conference but are not included in the IJPP supplement. The 2025 conference focused on person-centred care, workforce development, science & research and leadership and innovation, enabling delegates to explore areas of greatest interest to them through multiple content streams. Our morning keynote speaker was Matthew Syed, writer, journalist and broadcaster. Matthew provided powerful insights from psychology and performance science and how attendees could thrive in the ever-changing pharmacy landscape. His challenge to conventional thinking provoked delegates to think about how they can lead transformation in patient care. In our science and research stream of the conference, Professor James Goulding (University of Nottingham) delivered a keynote on AI and data science, and Fiona McIntyre (RPS Lead for Artificial Intelligence) offered a succinct round-up of recent AI and digital pharmacy roundtables, conference sessions and RPS digital policy. In the afternoon, five short oral presentations showcased selected research from Charlotte Jones, Anya Bowen, Clare Depasquale, Bawan Ahmed and Yusuf Ghazali. The programme closed with a panel discussion, ‘Celebrating Pharmacy Research Leadership,’ which brought together Dr Cathrine McKenzie, Dr Daniel Okeowo, Dr Jennifer Stevenson and Dr Sarah Trenfield to reflect on research translation, workforce development and service design. A particular highlight as part of the Science and Research Stream was the session on excellence in pharmacy research and leadership, featuring our prestigious Science and Research Awards. The Hanbury Medal was awarded to Professor David Jones (Professor of Pharmaceutical and Biomaterial Engineering, Queen’s University Belfast) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to pharmaceutical sciences, education and innovation. The Outstanding Pharmacy Early-Career Researcher Award (OPERA) was awarded jointly to Qonita Anjani (Research Fellow, Queen’s University Belfast) and Jennifer Stevenson (Lead Pharmacist for Older Adults, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust). This was the last annual conference of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society before transitioning to become the Royal College of Pharmacy. We would like to acknowledge all those who have contributed to building a successful programme—most notably members of the RPS Conference Steering Committee, co-chaired by Helen Chang and Anna Pielach; colleagues in the RPS Science and Research Team who managed the abstract processes—Jegak Seo, Lauren Ross, Yen Truong, Dr Helena Rosado, and Prof. Diane Ashiru-Oredope; and the members of the Conference Abstract Review Panels, including Dr Oisín Kavanagh, Prof. Cathrine A McKenzie, Dr Mar Estupiñán, Prof. Christine Bond, Dr Gillian Hawksworth, Dr Delyth James, Prof. Diane Ashiru-Oredope, Dr Andy Fox, Prof. Amira Guirguis and Rachel Palmer. We also thank all authors and presenters for sharing their work and the many attendees whose engagement makes the conference a highlight of the professional calendar. As in previous years, this supplement will be published ahead of the conference to accommodate production timelines and to enable participants to read the abstracts in advance.
