The recurrent and protracted outbreaks of cholera in Africa demand concerted multi-sectoral interventions. It is critical to increase investment in water, sanitation and hygiene, enhance multisectoral response coordination, strengthen vaccination, and ensure political commitment to address the cholera outbreak. Cholera remains a global health threat across the African continent. Here, the authors discuss the current issues relating to the control of the disease, and make recommendations for its management across Africa.
