Pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta due to brucella infection: Next-generation sequencing diagnosis and endovascular treatment

Primary infective pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta caused by Brucella is an uncommon clinical condition. In this report, we describe a case in which the etiological diagnosis established through direct sampling of blood from the pseudoaneurysm cavity via a single catheter, followed by next-generation sequencing The patient was treated with endovascular abdominal aortic repair combined with catheter-mediated local perfusion through the same catheter. Our experience demonstrated that direct sampling from the lesion effectively reduced the false-negative rate associated with peripheral blood testing. Furthermore, the combination of endovascular aneurysm repair and targeted local antibiotic delivery exhibited considerable clinical efficacy in the management of this infectious pseudoaneurysm, offering a valuable approach to the treatment of similar cases.
